Next Week, later than expected
For next week, please read the Brian Godawa essay. You may post comments/responses on the blog. Do you agree with Godawa that all films are about redemption? Can you think of examples other than the one discussed in class?
Also, choose a movie that you think you would like to write about. Then, find few reviews (between one and three) that discuss that film. You can find reviews at the Movie Review Query Engine or Rotten Tomatoes.

do we have to look up the reviews of the movie before we come to class next week?

o yes! of course there's other examples..... now when we're looking for a movie do we want a movie that will prove or disprove godawa's theory? cause i think it'll be pretty hard trying to disprove him....

Well hello I don't have any thing to say really. Yesterday night I got back from spinter and I am still tiered. But it was fun I love to be able to introduce my self and be like yeah Daniel is my brother. And then ask what church they go to and be like "yeah I've been to that church"
And some people already no me. And then it was extra fun to hear that Ruth is pregnant. So great.
At 11:13 AM,
Gabriella Reed said…
ruths pregnant?!?!?!
At 5:44 PM,
HeatherKessler said…
Yeah I heard that Ruth was pregnant because I sat by your mom during Fellowship Dinner. And she told us (me and Beth) how William had called your family. It was sooo funny and of course your mom makes it extra funny.

Sam a bit of advice, YOU NEED TO TAKE SHOWERS!!!!!!!! Without showers your social life will go WAY downhill very fast. Thought I would let you know.
Heather

Lemony Snicket said…
Showering is not that easy after watching a movie involving people getting stabbed in the shower. I haven't watched Psycho yet, but I already have a solution to the problem. I take baths.

what movies has he directed?
At 8:14 AM,
Lemony Snicket said…
Famous ones: The man who knew to much, The Birds, Vertigo, Rear Window, Rope, Marnie, Trouble with Harry, Psycho, North by Northwest, Dile M for Murder, and many many more.
Sam
At 8:58 AM,
Gabriella Reed said…
never heard of any of those. although The Birds sounds familiar.
HH
At 11:02 AM,
Lemony Snicket said…
If you think you might get scared watching Hitchcock movies, Hitchcock did write one comedy called The Trouble with Harry. That movie can hardly be considered scary at all.
Dan
At 7:04 AM,
Lemony Snicket said…
-Daniel, it's about a dead body (it's hilarious).
Sam
PS. The Birds is awsoum to. It's about birds (go figuer) that start attacking people.
At 8:56 AM,
Gabriella Reed said…
yeah, i think my sister said they saw it when they were... 7 er something. they also said that they'd never see it again. but i thought that was made by knightley something. you know, the guy who made Signs and The Village. those two were pretty stupid. actually, signs was scarey, the village was pathetic. you don't even find out if the nice guy lives! its aweful!
HH
At 12:53 PM,
Lemony Snicket said…
-You mean M.night Shalman. The Village was great!! It's the closest thing I've seen to Hitchcock. You girls have this problem of focusing on if the guy lives on not. Real life is uncertine, get used to it!
Sam
At 2:25 PM,
Oee said…
That guy normally does good scarry movies. the village wan't all that scarry and was kind of boring. But he has done a lot of other really good scarry movies. I think the most well known is six sence.
At 3:44 PM,
Lemony Snicket said…
The Trouble with Harry is hardly scary at all. The whole story is about a small group of people in a rural town who stumble across a dead body and all sorts of confusion spring up. It's hilarious.

-What's wrong with the Village?
Sam
At 2:24 PM,

the village is plain lame. you don't know what happens at the end of the movie and you go through that whole process of freaking out for nothing! and the poor guy gets stabbed! its so brutal!

Dear Sirs,
I am no longer agruing about a subject based completely and totally on oppinion. You have not changed my mind and I am most certain that I am the last person in the world to change yours. You have not won the argument, for in order to do so you must convince me. I am not convinced and believe that my time can be spent on a more productive argument and/or recreation. I beg pardon, but I must bow out of this indescribable, unnecessary, enigmatical, preposterous, and profoundly absurd argument.
Sincerely,
Heather Glenn
PS. heather kessler was just on and dropped the other enigmatical, absurd, and profoundly preposterous argument. so i had to post under her name. cya soon.
At 3:00 PM,

sorry, thats supposed to go on the other argument... this one's plain ridiculous.
At 4:17 PM,
Lemony Snicket said…
-Wait, are you talking about the Colts argument, or the acting argument?
-The Village is a good movie! You don't know what happens to the guy. SO? It was a good movie whether you found out about him or not.
Sam
PS. If you refuse to argue I must assume that you simply have run out of argument and are conceding the points i.e. I WIN!!!
PPS. The PS. is standard debate rules.
PPPS. The Village isn't brutal. Watch Psycho, that's brutal.
At 4:22 PM,
Lemony Snicket said…
-Heather K. you are wrong. If you stop arguing I win. If a team gets up in the middle of a debate round and leaves they will loose, trust me. You have simply ceased to argue, that means you are either tiered of arguing or simply have nothing left to say i.e. we've pinned you. We will assume that we have pinned you unless you provide evidence to the contraiery.
Sam
At 8:07 PM,
Gabriella Reed said…
first, that was me posting. not heather K. i am tired of the whole stupid argument. we are not in a debate hall, nor shall we ever. i have plenty more to say but am refraining from such... wrath.
sincerely,
Heather GLENN
PS. YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED YOUR GOAL IN CONVINCING ME, THEREFORE, YOU HAVE NOT(!) WON.
pss. Heather Kessler is standing here and is agreeing with every little thing i say.
At 8:40 AM,
Lemony Snicket said…
-I still don't agree with you, but it's your turn to think of something to argue about.
Sam
PS. We could keep arguing about the Village.
At 10:39 AM,
Elizabeth said…
You could argue about what constitutes an argument, like Monty Python.
At 1:43 PM,
Lemony Snicket said…
Opinions don't count. As the affirmative side in a debate, all Sam needs to do is refute your challenges to his claim. Whether you agree with him or not does not affect the outcome.
Dan
PS. In case you don't believe me, that's standard debate rules.
PPS. Anyway, if a team forfeits the other team wins--also standard debate rules.
PPPS. As the negative side, your job is to prove that Sam's plan does not work--again that's standard debate rules.
PPPPS. If you still have quibbles about this you can argue with Sam's teacher Micah Walters about standard debate rules.
