Uncle Tom's Cabin--UPDATE

All, since it has taken some folks a few days to get the book, please just read up till the end of chapter eight by Tuesday. If you're feeling ambitious, make a list of the themes that you're seeing so far (+100 super bonus points).

So, NO WRITTEN HOMEWORK!

Let the debate begin. I've included a picture of Stowe, our esteemed author, for your consideration.

Well, I've read all eight chapters and it looks like this book is off to a good start. I really like Sam and Andy.

P.S. I've found that if you click the word "said" in the comment titles, you can shrink the comments, and if you click the word again the comment comes back. That makes it kind of shorter to scan through the thirty-six plus comments on Andrew's "Ol' Benny" post.

sam and andy are hilarious! i liked them the first time i read their part.

I've read the first 7 chapters and am working on the third. they're really good so far and its one of those books where i can just pick it up and get "into it and excited".

we're reading "huck finn" next right?

-The theme that really poped out to me was Stowe's assumption that all blacks are innocent and anything they do wrong is a result of the oppression of the white man.
-She also seems to be showing us different attituds toward slavery (ex. The slave cachers, Uncle Tom's first master and mistress.)

Sam (note the absence of Andy)
