-Wow, you guys are pathetic. I go to Florida for two weeks and the whole blog fizzles out. And now Andrew and I are going to be gone for another week. How will Heather survive! Of course, she could try posting, but oh well. I guess you guys rely on me to think up things to talk about. So let's talk about...
--------------------------------------------------------------SUSPENSE
-This came up in the last post, with Heather saying she couldn’t deal with it. Suspense should be one of the building blocks for any movie. It’s what makes movies work. In a film, what you don’t tell the audience is just as important as what you do tell them. Alfred Hitchcock understood this and he was the best movie director of all time. I just saw Secret Window, a great Jonny Depp movie, and the whole thing was about suspense. It was scary, not because of excessive gore, but suspense.
--------------------------------------------------------May the arguing begin.
PS. Reading the ending of a book first is not only stupid, it’s cheating!

well i know that suspense "makes" a movie, but its just that it so intense that i get all nervous and i pace, or i get shakey, or sometimes i cry if its a sad scene. and in the latter case it doesn't really have to be that sad.... no i don't want to turn this into a new argument, but Star Wars Episode III is a perfect exaple of this.... although i must say i'll cry during that whether i'm tensed or not. in the last Samari i chewed the corner of a pillow the entire movie and in Jaws i have my eyes closed shut and my fingers in my ears. yeah, pathetic, but so are those movies. well, need to go.

PS. do any of you know whether or not you're coming to the play?

Hey guys, how's it going? about your movie conversation, I did not like THE VILLAGE. I did not see the whole movie, but i did hear about the end and I did not like it. But when I watched Star Wars 3 the whole time I was just mad at Anikan. I was watching it with Jay and Josh and I think they were getting annoyed. I like comedy and I can take some action it just depends on what kind.

Star Wars III wasn't suspensful. It was a bunch of action scenes and special effects tied together with some of the worst diolog ever. The VILLAGE is a good example of suspense which brings us to...
    -Heather K.
You can't judge a movie just by it's ending. The Village is an excelent movie made by one of the best directors alive today. Like the scene in the forrest with the girl being chased. How cool was that! Where the suspense came in was that they had about five shots of the monster not chasing her before it started getting into the action. That's suspense.
-Well, gotta go. Have fun with that.

    alrighty now....

i completely agree with you about The Village. you went through all that suspense to see her kneeling at his bed side which might the place of which he dies? whats up with that! its just like My Fair Lady or Gone with the Wind. you go through all those hours, all that suspense, or all the humor, to end with nothing. they leave you hanging! all this also applies to....

    Sam

i must also say that the plot was pretty pointless. sure they all went there to get away from the problems of the world, but the problems were not "the towns", its the sinfulness of man. the only thing i concluded from that movie at the end was that you can't run from the problems of this world. they never say why. and that is another reason why i dont' like that movie.
    Starwars III
    you spelled dialogue wrong.
