Pirates 3 Controversy
IF YOU HAVN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET DO NOT READ THIS POST!!!
-First off I would like to point out that this was a LOT better then #2, more humor, less dark matter. The special effects were way overplayed, and the Calypso story line seemed unnecessary, but aside from that it was a good movie. Jack was more prominently displayed and they tied up all the loose ends.
-The biggest problem I found with the movie, and with the whole series, is the twisted line between good and evil. When Elizabeth was making her big speech about fighting for freedom it suddenly struck me, we're talking about pirates. Pirates were not good, stealing is never justified, but the writers really don't seem to care. The whole movie takes place in a world where there is no good and evil. Will is just as backbiting as Jack, yet they're both "good guys". I'm willing to suspend reality for some entertainment, but we need to be aware of what our entertainment is saying.
-Last, but not least, I wanted Orlando Bloom to die and stay dead. This didn't happen, but it would have been awesome.
PS. Did you guys stay through the credits?

yes i did stay through the credits, yes, it was more humorous, but listen to this....
WILL TURNER IS THE NICEST GUY OF THE FILM!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW COULD YOU GET RID OF SUCH A NICE (and good looking i might add) GUY AND STILL BE ABLE TO CALL THE ENTIRE MOVIE GOOD. I WAS NEAR TEARS WHEN HE WAS STABBED. IN FACT, WE SHOULD CALL FOR A REDO. HOW COULD SOMEONE LEAVE SUCH AN UNHAPPY ENDING!!!??!?!?! I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU GUYS!!! this is just the limit. this is all i'm going to say in this post. goodbye, and farewell all, i'll ttyl.
PS. are you guys busy at all next tuesday night? i'm thinking about planning the June party then, what'd'ya think?

-Is your oppinion of the movie centered around what happens to Will?

-Also, Will does get to see Elizibeth every ten years, sure it's obvious that she and the kid are just going to die and Will is going to turn into a creepy creacher with eyes on stalks, but it's not altogether tragic.

WHAT!? THATS THE MOST TRAGIC THING I EVER HEARD OF IN MY LIFE! think about it, Will gets to see his son when the kid's 9, 19, 29, 39, 49, 59, 69, etc, etc, etc! if you think about it, when the kid reaches 100 Will will have seen one tenth of the boy's life! its his son for crying out loud! you don't think that's tragic! my my....
PS. WHAT ABOUT TUESDAY?

-In my opinion the real problem is the way the movies blur the line between good and evil. As I said, Will is no better then Jack, and all the main characters are breaking the law.
Sam
PS. Will and Elizebeth looked happy at the end, whats the problem.
At 7:22 PM,
Gabriella Reed said…
true, that is the main concern.

PS. well, the truth is that they were away from each other for so long! i couldn't stand it. and it isn't (in my oppinion anyways) what i would call a happy ending.

Lemony Snicket said…
-Well when moviemakers think happy ending, they're thinking that the characters are happy, not you, so by that standard it was a happy ending.

guys guys guys...
ok....
1 the movie was better than two...we all agree...
2 the movie had more "sparrowness" then two...that was also good...
3 i was impressed that the filmakers had the guts to condemn will in order to save his life...i didn't think they could do it...but they did...amazingly...so...yeah it's a fateful ending...but TONS better than a cheesy happy ending where everyone is perfectly full of bliss and the world turns out to be a nice fluffy place full of cute teddy bears...

Lemony Snicket said…
-Yeah, death to teddy bears. By the way, WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO POST?!
Sam
PS. I'll be leaving for Florda early tomarow, and so will Oee. So Andrew and Hether, have a good time conversing.

come on guys! okay, teddy bears are WAY off track, andrew. secondly, whats the point in watching a movie where everybody dies or never sees each other again, or the moviemakers just leave you hanging w/o a sequal (as in My Fair Lady)? i mean, come on! one thing i do (and i know my little brother hates it when i do this) but i read like... the last sentance of a book before i read the entire thing. sometimes this is because of suspense and i don't deal well with suspense. but then sometimes it is because i want to make sure that this book is worth my time. in my oppinion, this movie was not worth the 5.25 and couple hours.
HH
PS. i know sam and daniel and oee were leaving today, or tomorrow, or whatever. but what is everyone doing on the 3rd of august (its a friday)? i know its way far ahead on the calender, but i'd just like to invite you all to something....
PSS. i know oee will be gone that date.

i did post...sam...ahem...
oh and yes teddy bears are off the subject...but does add to my point...
i just wanted to say that the movie did a good job being...creative with it's ending rather than having everything turn out to be a perfect ending type thing...anyway...the movie makers went outside the box on that one...i was impressed lets say...
however it doesn't mean i love tragic endings like that...but i was decently impresseed with the creativity of the ending...doesn't mean i loved it...

right! well.... maybe you should see the movie sometime... the second one is okay and same with the thrid, but i would just stick to the first one if i were you. the affect of the last two has a negative impact on my oppinions of the formal. so, therefore, i would not recommend seeing the last two. just stick with the first one, its the coolest!
